Essentials
The essential tools you need for braid are:
- Comb
- Brush
- Elastic bands
- Hair spray
- Decorative material
Moreover, you can use embellished stuff like beads or flowers to decorate your braid.
Step 1: Comb your hair to detangle
The process of braiding starts from brushing your hair for detangling them so that your braid look finer and you can avoid breaking or damaging hair.
- If your hair is thick, then we recommend you to comb your hair by using a little water or leave-in conditioner.
- Make sure that your hair is dry because braiding on damp hair will cause damaging or hair loss.

Step 2: Make three sections of your hair by dividing it
For braiding, it is essential to make three sections of your hair. Your braid will be more beautiful if the segments are even. You have to hold the left section in the left hand while the right part in right hand in a way that you can clutch them against your palm with the help of the ring, little, and middle fingers.
- You can make ponytail for starting braid.
- Your thumb and index fingers must be free.

Part 3: Cross the left hair section over the middle one
Now, grasp the middle section by using thumb and index fingers of the left hand. After it, you have to move your left part over the middle section in a crisscross manner. Your left section is the new middle section now.
Part 4: Cross the right section over the new middle section
The left section has become the new middle section and you need to cross the right section over it. I think you can understand that the right segment has become the new middle one now.
- This crossing over procedure of the sections are known as stitch or sequence.

Part 4: Continue this “sequence” to complete the braid
Repeat this crisscross process till the end of the hair. Leave 1 to 3 inches hair at the end and secure it with an elastic band.
- Make sure to pull the sections firmly after each crossing to avoid loosening of hair.

Part 5: Use the hair spray and embellishment
You can use hair spray to set the braid. You may also use hairpins, beads, or metallic flowers to adorn your braid.
